Good car, easy pickup

I rented a Toyota Corolla for my trip last month. The pickup process at the airport was super smooth, they had everything ready to go. The car itself was clean and drove well, no issues at all. Returning it was quick too. I'd definitely use them again when I need a rental, it was pretty convenient.

Awesome rental experience

I absolutely loved my rental experience with Alamo! I got a full size SUV, a Chevrolet Tahoe, for my family vacation and it was perfect. Plenty of room for everyone and all our luggage. The staff at the counter were so friendly and helpful, they made everything super easy. I couldn't believe how smooth the whole process was, from booking to picking up the car and then dropping it off. I will absolutely rent from them again for my next trip! I'm even telling my friends about it.

How strict is Alamo about their fuel policy? Should I just return it full, or is there a pre-pay option that's actually worth it?

O Omar E. 2 months ago
Definitely return it full if you can, saves a ton. Their pre-pay options are usually way more expensive per gallon than just filling it up yourself. Learned that the hard way once.

Yeah, I always just fill up right before I drop it off. Most places have a gas station close by. Way cheaper than their rates.

can I add my wife as an additional driver for free, or do they charge extra for that?

D Dan 2 months ago
I think for spouses, it's usually free, especially if you're an Alamo Insiders member. But definitely double-check your specific reservation details, policies can vary by state/location.

Afraid not always free. Some states yes, some no. Best to just look up their 'additional driver service' policy on the site for your pick-up spot. It's usually listed there.

Is there a trick to getting a free upgrade with Alamo? Like, do you need a special coupon or just ask nicely at the counter?

G Gwen 2 months ago
Sometimes they have actual 'free upgrade coupons' you can find online, or if you're an Insiders member, they might email them to you. Worth checking the 'known deal patterns' if you're signed up.

I've gotten one just by asking when they were out of the class I booked. No coupon, just luck of the draw sometimes. Doesn't hurt to ask!

Hey, thinking of renting a car for a week in Florida next month. Anyone know if Alamo has any good deals for that, or if I should just use my AAA discount?

P Paula 1 month ago
They usually have 'Florida car rental deals' listed on their site, separate from general discounts. Might be worth checking both to see which saves more.

I've always had good luck with their 'prepay and save' option for longer rentals. Saved me like 15-20% last time I went to Miami. Just make sure your plans are solid 'cause it's harder to change.

Comparing Alamo vs Enterprise for a trip next month. Is Alamo generally cheaper for like a midsize SUV? Or should I expect them to be pretty similar pricing?

D Daisy Brooks 2 months ago
Alamo often markets itself as 'value-oriented' for leisure travelers, so it *can* be cheaper than Enterprise, especially if you catch a 'prepay and save' or a 'last minute special'. But Enterprise has a wider range of locations sometimes.

I usually check both. Sometimes Enterprise matches or beats Alamo if you have a corporate discount. But for general 'midsize suv', Alamo is usually my go-to for better rates if I book ahead. Plus, the 'skip the counter' is a nice perk.
